On January 21st Children’s accepted a $425,000 donation from PetSmart to expand our Pet Therapy program for the next five years. The therapy program is a fully integrated part of patient care.
The donation helped with the purchase of two new therapy dogs, Van and Blair. The two fluffy additions will visit patients undergoing various types of treatment as well as prior to going into surgery. Not only is the joy the children receive from the dogs a blessing, but Children’s knows that pet interaction has real therapeutic effect.
This partnership is the beginning of a journey to raise a $5 million endowment to ensure we are able to continually bring happiness and health to the lives of the children we serve. Children’s is grateful to be involved with such wonderful partners who help bring such joy to the lives of our patients.
