As much as I love my field of work, our goal as healthcare professionals is to do everything in our power to keep patients out of the hospital. I was honored to be able to attend a “Matters of the Heart” Symposium yesterday, hosted by former first Lady Laura Bush and the National Advisory Board Chair Lee Ann White.
The Symposium featured four Doctors who specialize in cardiac medicine, and who specifically spoke about how Heart Disease can affect women. The tone of the symposium was one of hope, and focused on preventative medicine and the gender specific new treatments in the field. Advances in this field mean more time with family and friends.
This event reminded me that it is important to take a step back and realize that this disease affects all of us, and that when we come together, solutions and hope begin to drive out fear.
A huge thank you to the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health – for all of the research and funding that has been provided for continued education and the developments in the field of women’s health.
