Cyndi Bassel is senior vice president of Children’s Medical Center Foundation and vice president of Children’s Medical Center. Since joining the Children’s Medical Center team in July of 2013, Mrs. Bassel has played an integral role in the planning and execution of the Foundation’s fundraising strategy, working with philanthropic partners, leaders, and Children’s staff to secure the future greatness of the organization.
Bassel has combined careers in fundraising, business administration, event planning, and customer relations. Before joining Children’s Medical Center, Bassel worked for UT Southwestern Medical Center for 34 years, where she served in administrative roles including vice president for external relations. As vice president, she initiated and oversaw guest and patient services programs, served as the institution’s chief interface with community leaders, and was the liaison to Southwestern Medical Foundation.
In 1997, Bassel received distinguished recognition by Margot and Ross Perot when they established the Cyndi Bassel Guardian Angel Award. The award is given to a Southwestern Medical District non-physician in a health field who devotes themselves, above and beyond the call of duty, to serving patients in exceptional ways.
Mrs. Bassel holds a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University where she was named to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. Before joining Southwestern Medical District affiliates, she served as a development counselor for national Pi Beta Phi and then director of development for the American Heart Association.
Active in the Dallas-Ft. Worth region, Mrs. Bassel is a member of Charter 100, the Dallas Assembly, UT Southwestern Board of Visitors, Community Partners of Dallas, Dallas Woman’s Club, Marianne Scruggs Garden Club, Junior League, Dallas Alumnae Club of Pi Beta Phi. She serves on the advisory boards of The Highland Park Education Foundation and The Ronald McDonald House of Dallas.
